The battlefield seems to change at the halfway point of a battle. Against Shota, it's forest for the first half and rocky terrain in the second half (when Ash Greninja vs Mega Sceptile takes place). Here it seems to be a grassy field when Ash Greninja is out, which means it shouldn't be against Shota still.
