Eh, I'm not the biggest Kalos fan, but they were indeed very pretty in some parts. A fine outing for first 3DS region, though traversing it is often a pain.

Some parts were fantastic though, like the sky above Frost Cavern.

I don't know much because I'm not in the beta but there are apparently gyms that people can claim and others can challenge. There's currently only gen 1 but they confirmed they will add more. There's also eggs to hatch and ways to evolve pokemon.

From what I can tell from the Resistance agents that got in the beta... Attacking strong gyms etc is quite a bit harder solo, doable, but definitely harder. Building top level gyms of course requires multiple players, but you can build on what people already have set up. It actually is a pretty good way to open up if you need to.

The quick way is to see who's on your team on comms, and ping someone that looks active (@name, you can longpress a name in chat and hit send message if it's one of those edgy barcodes that name themselves ||ll|l||l| or something)
You can probably get into a team hangout on G+ (the usual preferred method of contact) by doing that since some people sit on the "secure" comms using second accounts.
