A lot of normal types fill the role of regular animals with simple physical attacks (most of the ones that don't will later become fairy types or are legendaries).
Fighting types also have mostly physical attacks, wich are effective against normal types. Why is this? What's the difference between a normal type and a fighting type?
The answer is dicipline. Fighting types are nomral types that left their brutish ways behind in favor of self control, dicipline and technique.
Fairy resists Bug so that you can't take out Gardevoir with a Bug move. That's the only reason.
