ITT moves that look helpful but are actually useless

I wouldn't call Snatch useless, just painfully situational.

That's what makes them useless though. Margin for error using them, possibility of whiffing them, opportunity cost of a moveslot and a move selected that turn, typically the same or inferior effectiveness to a more immediate or ordinary move the pokemon may have, 99% of all status moves are garbage because they're overly specific and even in a perfect scenario are often worse than just attacking.

Back in gen IV I had a Gravity stall team that was fucking awesome.

Something insane about Gravity is that it decreases evasion by two stages. So my Blissey just ended up using annoying the shit out of everything with 92% accurate Sings. While things just died to entry hazards and sand.

Since evasiveness is essentially the same for all Pokémon, it feels like it's a waste of a slot, esp when you need to use it maybe 2-3 times before it becomes useful, and even then, you may be taken down to 20-40% or even ohko

Also about Gravity, Gravity Cresselia is a thing in VGC16. Gravity+Primal Groudon is not a fun thing to play against and is quite populair among top players. Fully accurate precipes blades that hits levitate and flying mons is a dangerous thing.

The vast majority of status moves are garbage. The only relevant status moves are:

>stat boosting moves
>non-volatile status inducing moves

And the rest are so incredibly niche maybe two to three pokemon can adequately run any given one.
