Which ones. the main head or the arm-heads? Arm-heads have no brains, and the main head is honestly why I like Hydreigon so much. They eyes are very different for a Pokemon and thus looks unique. Can you see it with Toriyama eyes? No.

This. But to put it more bluntly he's a slow "wallbreaker" that doesn't hit that hard because he has his offensive stats split. He ends up being slow as dirt while only hitting decently hard. Because of his movepool and and his decent attack/special attack he is still a dangerous pokemon when predicting right or you have the right set. Otherwise he just doesn't do much.

And no, fairies had very little impact on his viability. The emphasis on speed and priority in gen 6 really fucked his shit up

Hydreigon is by far my favorite pokemon, second only to Blastoise as it was my first. I played Gen 1 and 2, took a very long break and came back sometime after ORAS was released, been playing ORAS for a little over a year now and I love how much pokemon has changed. But seeing this fucking dragon gave me goosebumps, I fucking love this thing and wish it was seen more competitively. I would have to agree that it's speed is what really holds it back, and it's typing gets shit upon by fairy. I would really love to see a mega for this pokemon, even JWittz and Aaron Cybertron Zheng mentioned they would like to see a mega for this pokemon in a video on youtube.

Design was good, but basic stat distribution was flawed.

Speed was only decent for a sweeper and the 125 Sp.Attack base was good because it can learn many good Special moves, but is still now high enough to sweep decently enough, especially with that speed. Defense stats are bad.

In Gen V it was mediocre, but right now it got baaad.

Hydreigon was never the god of OU. It's never been as good as Latios and it hovered between the mid 20s and low 40s for all of gen 5.

What's everyone's problems with the legs? They're vestigial limbs, a real life biological aspect of some animals out there. Thanks to having 6 wings, it's logical that Hydreigon will rarely stay on ground, resulting in the atrophied hind limbs.

Garchomp improves drastically. It goes from dying to Kyurem to killing Latios. It goes from getting bopped by Mega Gardevoir to bopping Zard X. I can't stress how much of a threat Mega Garchomp would be if this happened. Yes, it doesn't hit as hard, especially on the Special side, but Jesus. One Swords Dance, and all but the mightiest stall and fat balance teams would crumble. The residual damage from sand is just icing on the cake. Even MegaMence would be on edge.

Tyranitar just gets worse. It's now outrun by Crawdaunt, and ends up more frail than the original Mega. You fuck up your Sand Force once, and it's over. I'm not sure how to make Mega Tyranitar worth your slot, but this certainly isn't it. Literally the only bonus is that Scizor doesn't check you as hard. Fucking yipee.

It isn't necessary. Hydregion being a metallic cyborg wouldn't make any sense with it's flavor. The tank motif is just a scrapped concept for it. Just because it was originally intended to be machine-like doesn't mean it needs to be retyped to Steel. Blastoise was literally a tank turtle and was still pure Water with its ability giving it's coverage psuedo STAB. Mega Launcher benefiting Flash Cannon would be enough as the move would also get psudeo-STAB boost from the ability while retaining Dragon Pulse/Dark Pulse STAB. Getting STAB on Steel moves isn't worth it when Dark Pulse provides better coverage.

He's not a wall, he's a tank. He sponges resisted and weak neutral hits repeatedly and Roosts it off. I love throwing him out when Rotom or Slowbro shows up and threatening it with a safe 2 shot with Dark Pulse or the constant threat of a fatty Draco Meteor. Plus I run Thunder Wave to cripple switches, so even if I can't immediately kill something, he steals momentum like a champ. Obviously fairies are a big threat, but he pairs really well with Metagross for a nice bulky offensive core.
