All I would say is we need more "folklore" fairies - humanlike yokai, fearsome critters, etc. - to balance it out. Kind of like how Psychic's always used for space-pokemon, but we still have enough actual psychic pokemon to balance it out somewhat.

It makes sense as a type (normal things with unexplained magical abilities and kind of a middle ground between Normal, Psychic, and Ghost), but we just don't have enough fairy pokemon to represent that yet.

I never really understand this argument. People want competitive AI in a childrens game. Im not saying that the handholding is even remotely acceptable, making a game completely smogon meta I feel would be incredibly tedious. The only AI boosts that I feel should be implemented are gym trainers, gym leaders, ace trainers, and veteran trainers. Anyone else is fine with default ai.
