Chesnaught doesn't have a bad design, but its color scheme is very boring, that's how I would describe it. You can bet it would be more popular if its shiny color was the default. It also had to compete with the dream of all furfags and the uber ninja, so it's no wonder Chesnaught is less popular than its counterparts.

I'll be honest and say that I don't really see Talonflames that aren't running a Sash or Choice item. Even the local casual kids (and I mean actual kids in the 10-15 range) run the bird roughly the same way.

I think maybe I saw one using the berry that makes Rock SE damage hurt less, but he turned around and said "wasn't worth it" and changed back to what he had before.

Weird, most of the Talonflames I see hold either Life Orb, Sharp Beak or Leftovers.

I get that one can pull a leg at Talonflame with Chesnaught by using Spike Shield. But the strategy won't work more than one turn. 2 if you're lucky.

Chesnaught isn't bad but it's undeniable it could have been much better, even for a starter
