That would never happen, that's like removing text speed options.
>>
>>26740480
you know, if it's removed you could just always answer "no" when it asks if you want to switch.
>>
>>26741540
And then you get a message:
>Kukui's words echoed: if your oponent uses a water/ground Pokemon, you better switch to a grass type, like your [insert nickname here]!

But then it still spoils what the opponent is going to use next. Part of the fun is not knowing what your opponent is going to send out. Fuck off retards.

Thanks Casuals!
>>
>>26743603
seeing the name spoils the pokemon. It's more exciting seeing what the pokemon is as it's sent out.
>>
>>26743553
you only see it 5 seconds prior to him sending it out and even then you can't use that knowledge if you refused to switch. So in actuality there is no difference with the only exception being reading the pokemon name instead of seeing the sprite or model. and even then you read the name first when the trainer says, "go, 'insert pokemon name here.'"
>>
>>26743621
Are you actually autistic?
>>
>>26743617
That's Pokemon for you.
You answer yes, everything is fine, you answer no, you get some "haha, very funny, now please answer seriously" and are offered the "choice" again until you answer yes.
>>
>>26743631
see >>26743621

>>26743637
No. I just like being immersed. Seeing a new Pokemon as it's coming out is a lot more exciting and immersive than seeing a name and going "oh, I guess it's a new pokemon"

how much less exciting would the yungoos reveal in the live gameplay be if beforehand it said "you will encounter a wild yungoos"
>>
>>26743658
but you still read the name first anyway, when the trainer announces what they are sending out, as I already said.
>>
An autistic debate about a change that doesn't matter and won't even happen. I love you, /vp/.
>>
>>26743621
If you know the Pokemon, seeing it's name before the sprite doesn't change shit. If you don't know the Pokemon you still wonder what it will look like regardless of getting to see it's name first.
You have an abnormally hard time dealing with change, Anon, regardless of it being meaningful or not.
Now, I don't think it's necessary to point out what condition your behavior is related to, so I'll put it nicely: get yourself diagnosed already.

what is Set
>>
>>26743828
What does that have to do with something that is tied into the mechanics of the game? Set is the only option for pvp, and you have the option of using it for single player as well as a more casual style that allows for switching. In the settings, Shift is default to make the game easier for the kids; however, offering the option to make things ever-so-slightly harder on yourself in such a simple manner is something people with more than one brain cell would never consider removing. In fact, if anything would be in danger of being removed it's the shift option, since it surely requires more effort to implement in the game than the basic Set battling style.

>What does that have to do with something that is tied into the mechanics of the game?
Nothing. I don't reply to this I replied to "things that will never happen".
And no one would thought that this would happen.
I didn't read the rest of your post.

>>26743963
Rivals picking the leftover mon is something I would totally have believed before gen 5, though. It's nowhere near the retardation OP posed.

Seems like you are the one who is actually autistic.

I don't think I accused anyone of being autistic.

regular battles in the game are in "switch" mode, which means the game tells you what pokemon your opponent is about to send out, and lets you "switch" to a new one before they do.

"Set" mode means that option is taken away. Like in link battle, your opponent simply send out a pokemon and you have to use a turn to switch out, possibly risking the health of either your current pokemon or next pokemon. it's more competitive, more suprising according to the more autistic posters in this thread, and just another way to make a game intended for 10 year olds a little bit more fun for people who still love the game but are far older than the target audience

I should've known retards of your caliber aren't able to handle more than one sentence at a time, my bad.
