I chose Cyndaquil on my 8th birthday party, squinting to Pokemon Gold in the dim lighting of a cheap family restaurant as I eagerly dove into the world of Pokemon for the first time.

Anon, I love Cyndaquil. He was there for me through everything. When I couldn't beat Faulkner, he grew a mohawk and Quilava'd his whole team. When I was lurching through the Olivine Lighthouse, he defeated his own weaknesses and became Typhlosion, the Pokemon that would capture my heart for the next ten years.

In terms of objective, aesthetic design, Totodile is better.

It took me a while to see and agree. I still nostalgically prefer Cyndaquil. But...let it go, anon. Totodile is just more thematically engrossing and consistent. Without its flames, Typhlosion is a literal weasel. Feraligatr has pleasing coloring, added fins and spikes that don't detract from the design with clumsiness that add to it, and a consistent personality through its evolutions.

Objectively speaking, Totodile is far superior. Croconaw evolves really fucking early, Bite is really great, and Ice Punch shits over everything else.

Really, the only advantage Cyndaquil has is that it smacks Bugsy around. This also applies to HGSS, where Totodile learns Ice Fang anyway and Cyndaquil loses Thunderpunch.

Meganium doesnt need moves.
Its no worse off than any other grass-type (not named Venusaur) movepool wise and several grasses have made it competitively.

It needs stats. Right now it has Eeveelution Syndrome, where it has a good stat total and good stats, theyre just dumped into the wrong places to mimic a much better 'mon (Meganium's stats are just a rearranged version of Venusaur's, which are much better on top of Venusaur being dual-typed)

A second type or something that makes it a better Dual screener or better sponge/cleric is all it needs
