It would be pretty rad if they added a 4th starter to mix the game up a bit. A rock pop starter would be neat, but I know that's not going to happen.

He is probably going to be given to you soon after the start of the game. First city or after first gym. Maybe later in the game, but he will be given to you, in the way lots of people have been equating him to Eevee in red and blue.

Unique signature moves could be a thing. Especially if they expand the dual type moves from last gen.

I bet Iwanko is a macguffin/plot heavy Pokemon which is why it's so significant.

You meet it in the first town along with your starter and it leads you to those circular stone areas on the Alola Map to sniff out certain plot devices or things.

Like someone else said, it's probably related to that game's version of the underground, there's probably a handful of various but popular pokémon that have the ability of finding stones, shards and gems with various values and effects, maybe you can fuse them into evolution stones, held items, megastones, etc.

Maybe you can trade them to a move tutor.
