The best thing about the Clefairy was that I caught it in a Moon Ball. Like the only time you'd even want to use a Moon Ball.

First one I actually found was a shiny Tentacruel in FireRed. I wasted all my balls trying to catch it and failed. Still mad.
First one caught was a shiny Starly in Diamond. It was the first wild Pokemon I saw, so I'd say that was lucky.

My first legit shiny encounter didn't happen until gen 5 or 6's release (I don't remember which), and I was replaying FR... in a nuzlocke. I had to kill it since I had already caught a pokemon in the route, so there goes that.

My first owned shiny was a Ghastly in XY that came about during IV breeding. Luckily, she had perfect IVs, so she became my "main" pokemon for the Ghost team I was building. I tend to get a few shinies when breeding, so much of that initial "wow" factor is kinda gone. Not that that's a bad thing, imo; it's still cool to see them, but I don't go out of my way to get one..

My first caught shiny was a Whishmur, also in XY, during a horde battle. Never really used it in much capacity, only enough to evolve it to Loudred.

Shiny sneasel in crystal (treasured it and raised it to 100 because I liked the color).

Then a shiny corphish in gba sapphire, which doesn't stand out much.

That's pretty much it if you don't count events or Pokemon fan games/hacks, where I seem to have much better luck finding shinies, despite most of them having the exact same odds of finding them as the real games.

I had a Spinda and a Whismur in Emerald, but I lost the cart somehow. After that, I saw a Pidgey in LeadGreen on a solo run, but managed to kill it.

My first caught wild shiny was pic related. My first bred shiny was a Solosis. My first soft-reset shiny was Lugia.

I hadn't run into a legit shiny for a very long time after that though (like actually 13 years or so). I think the next shiny I got was a cubchoo in x/y in frost cavern. I had pretty good luck after that, even outside of the friend safari.

My first shiny was this little motherfucker with the Masuda method before I even knew it existed(I ramdomly got a japanese ditto over the GTS) and the best thing is, I shit you not, I got on the first try.

I think my first shiny encounter (not first catch) was replaying Pokémon White to see if it was fun enough to restart. Ran into a shiny patrat(sp?) And caught it, thinking hell yes I'm gonna restart. The Odd Egg in Crystal has like a 15% chance of being shiny I think, and I got a shiny Elekid from it. But dumbass kid-self didn't notice because Elekid is one of this shit-tier shinies you have to really look at to see the difference, and instantly boxed it and never thought about again. Til one day I decided I wanted to play with an Electabuzz and noticed the the small sparkles on the status screen.

Then chain-fished a shiny Luvdisk while gathering heart scales.
