I guess because the last few champs had just more to them. I didn't mind her in concept, but I feel like maybe there could have been more with her being famous and maybe having to deal with the problems of fame and being seen as a beauty standard. But they. Didn't. She's just uh. Nice? And her team just...Is? X and Y as a whole was very easy, and it's kinda inevitable that the champ would end up as a disappointment as well. I like her design well enough, but Cynthia did the whole "Non-type based team" thing way better, with stronger pokemon and high levels. She just doesn't hold up against Cynthia, Iris, Blue, Steven, or even that cheating fucker Lance.

When you introduce such an important character, the first thing you must ask yourself is "Can someone relate to this character?".

Adler doesn't appear much in BW, but at least you can tell his personality through his dialogues and the few interactions you have with him. He's a good Champion, because he can be a source of inspiration. At least he was that for Cheren.

Even Lance is a good champion, conveying that "nothin personnel... kid..." personality in Gold and Silver, but at the end you can tell that from his interactions.

Diantha doesn't give a fuck for anybody. Diantha doesn't who the fuck are you. Diantha isn't interested. Diantha only cares about her movies.

Diantha was just... there. She didn't really do much. She appeared once, said "yo, wassup" and then fucked off until the end of the game. Compare her to the other champions.
