Just about anytime you try to think realistically, and it'd be a trite to even try to expand upon it.

Make the Nuzlocke a real mechanic
Go back to having evil teams that actually kill Pokemon or use them as slaves or tools to commit crimes, like Team Rocket did in Gen 1.
Have moves cause a realistic amount of damage (earthquake can destroy a town, explosion kills the user for real and causes massive damage to the surrounding area, perish song actually makes Pokemon perish, etc.)
Not everything can be solved by battling Pokemon (evil team grunts can shoot you to death, winning against the bad guys won't make them give up and stop their wrongdoings)
Realistic economy and money making
Believable controversies surrounding the whole Pokemon battle subject and it's morality.

A few other winners are the Furret that is nearly decapitated by a Shiftry, the Shiftry that has its arms and legs severed to fit into a pokeball, The Spearow that disappears into a bloody puff of feathers when it dive-bombs a Paras horde, and the smoldering remains of a Selfdestructed Graveller.

It's a good read. Kinda slow, but the action scenes are excellently done.

Not if you simultaneously make it exceedingly unrealistic like your pic. Lucario is Steel type and I'm pretty sure Beedrill has a super low Attack stat. That picture doesn't suck because of how poorly its drawn, how crude and unrealistic the blood is portrayed, nor because of how untrue it is to the games in terms of violence/gore, but because of how it completely ignores the established characters stats and typing.
I know I went full autist, but if you're going to break the rules, at least try to stick to the ones that establish the universe. That might as well be a picture of something as absurd as TPCi announcing that Ash is to be replaced as the main character in the anime, aka, a complete impossibility.
Also, don't be surprised if this thread gets pruned by a mod.
