Traits, like the game EvoCreo had. Basically acts like a subtype that adds a new weakness and resistance. Things like levitate and Thick Fat will become traits, and many more traits will become available, and it's how they are gonna try to tweak certain typings that need an upgrade, or Pokemon that should have 3 typings (like beedril being Bug/Flying/Poison)

God I was pissed to find out they didn't make it part ground after I first saw Flying Press. Seriously. It makes too much god damn sense.

The first type of a pokémon now plays an importante role, every first type now have a "trait" than works like a passive ability.

For example steel types now takes 33% of resisted attacks instead of 50%. Fighting type stabs deals 2.0 damage etc.
