Because manchild fail to realize they are not kids anymore and expect to feel the same emotions they had playing gen1 and gen2.
Their little malfunctioning brain cant understand that they are changed along with times.
While in the past you played the game over and over again, restarting your game until you know and remember every little single gimmick of it, now you just finish the game and move on to something else, therefore it doesnt stuck with you anymore, like it used to. Instead of being conscious about it they just forget every positive aspect about the game, focusing only on the bad things, branding the game as "soulless"

This. I can actually live with X & Y, they weren't completely terrible.

ORAS on the other hand were rushed, unnecessarily bland and thoughtless remakes that do Hoenn or the Pokémon franchise no justice.

They listened to the complaints of "too many legendaries" the past two generations which led to minimal postgame as hunts for new legendaries and their dungeons are the brunt of postgame in the first game of a generation. They also did lots of things to make main game potentially easier for those who either suck at it or want to rush to postgame for competitive, though most are optional and not using them leads to the games mostly being as difficult as past ones. XY's also got some pacing whiplash with the first three gyms well spread out then the rest suddenly shot at you in overdrive.

ORAS was mostly fine in my opinion but they should've added more of Emerald's good.
