"The Explosive Birth of Z" was a reference to movie 2's title, "The Explosive Birth of the Mythical Pokemon Lugia".

At first, I was a little upset Ash didn't have a Key Stone or brought his older Pokémon back, but Ash-Greninja has changed my mind. It makes 100% sense for Ash to have him and Ash-Greninja is one of my favorite Pokémon now.

I hope Ash wins the league. This is essentially a love letter for fans who have waited more then 15 years and sticking with Ash, he deserves to win and challenge the league. They have been building up to that moment for a very long time (2 Diantha battles, the last one was unfinished).
