Uglier than Bayleef, and still an absolutely terrible Pokemon that is outdone by pretty much everything. No reason to evolve Bayleef if you for some reason pick Chikorita.

Meganium is probably the worst starter in the series usability wise, both competitively and in game (first gyms are flying and bug, contributes almost nothing offensively and doesn't have that much bulk). Add to that that Chikorita is cuter, Bayleef prettier, and that a majority of the people that played Gen 2 back in the day were kids going through their "I'm not picking anything that girly when there's a fucking crocodile and explosion rat available" phase and basically almost nobody picked Meganium unless they felt like challenging themselves.

There's nothing particularly offensive or awful about Meganium and its barely gotten attention outside of GS and HGSS, where it is a starter.
It's basically one of the most harmless Pokémon.

If Delphox and Meganium got some broken Mega Evolutions, most of the idiots here would suddenly claim that these Mons have always been their bros. I want this meme to die. It's like you guys haven't even played any Johto games. Meganium is very useful against Whitney, Chuck and Pryce, and its early access to Razor Leaf, Reflect, Poison Powder and Synthesis turn it into a great tank. It also learns Body Slam and Earthquake in case you want some other moves.

So far the only starter that I've personally thought of dumping because it's so bad is Serperior, much worse than Meganium in-game.
