Nah, because Gold/Silver weren't known as Generation 2 back then. They were basically Pokemon 2. Battling Blue, Cynthia, etc in Black/White or X/Y is cool. I wish GF actually cared about their own games lore and characters at all. I know we have bits and pieces here and there and piecing them together is fun, but I wish they would try at a more solid attempt at world-building. The PWT is my favorite moment from the series and right up there with vs Red, I still go back and play through it from time to time.

I know GF will always aim these games towards kids and that saddens me because GF have tons of characters and events to work with and weave an awesome tale. GF themselves don't even seem all that interested in creating a coherent story either, all they do is throw a bone here and there. This is why I've been interested in Pokemon Special a lot more than I have been in the main series for a while now.

Lapras just feels redundant next to Blastoise, and Espeon was a cool way to use Red's gimmick (using pokemon that were given to you in Yellow) in an unexpected way to give him a pokemon he wouldn't have in that gen.
