My personal take: best story, good region, mostly very ugly monster designs. Not my absolute favorite, but good.

I personally didn't like the story at all (outside of N) and thought a lot of the designs were stupid (such as the elemental monkeys, which AFAIK only exist because of them being part of the first gym's gimmick)

As someone who likes Gen V so much I actually took a trip to NYC because of it, i think the OP needs to light up, chill out, and accept that not everyone has to like the same things as them.
