What is the hardest game in the series to nuzlocke?

I've tried gen 1, 2, 5 and 6 on Nuzlocke and always got bored three or four gyms in. There seems to be a steadily decreasing difficulty each gen, so I'd say Yellow is probably hardest, especially if you don't use gift Pokémon (so Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander)
