Tyranitar is not found until Kanto, so that's pretty much out of the question. Donphan and Mamoswine are found around the same area, so it's really up to whether you'd rather have a bulkier or more offensive team member.

Just got a DS lite, and I'm gonna replay the Pokemon games, among other things. I'll start with Platinum, I don't think I ever completed it. I was a really stupid kid who only used male pokemon who looked "cool" and released anything that looked girly or had a female gender, so I'm gonna go for a full Waifumon run, with a few Pokemon I never used before mixed in.

In that case, I still think Tyranitar isn't worth raising since it only becomes useful at its final stage, and that will only come well into Kanto. If you want a challenge, though, go for it.

Thinking about it, I might actually consider using one in my Black 2 playthrough. I'll have to trade one over, but considering Marlon has level 55 Pokémon it'll find its use much earlier on.

I'm surprised by how relatively weak Sceptile is, and by how Walrein has become my strongest party member by far.

Doing a SoulSilver run while I decide whether or not I want to grind out my team I'm running through White with for the Elite 4. Turns out having a team that is slow and immensely weak to Fighting is a terrible idea.

But for SS i'm using mons I've never used/maybe used once
