Dark type is personally my favorite type but is it actually good? Not really, Bug types are way too common in every gen for them to have much of a foothold, although they're particularly useful if you're going up against Psychic and Ghost shitters.

There's only one Dark-type with elements of a witch. A witch trainer would much more likely be a Psychic, Ghost, or Fairy trainer.

How about a Batman-style vigilante? That way, you can maintain they're a good person while still showing they are a pragmatic rulebreaker.

You're thinking of Mismagius, which is a Ghost type. Still, witches are associated with the dark arts and villainy. Even if there are good witches or ones that are more mischievious than evil, I think it's a good fit.
