That was my honest reaction. I stopped playing pokemon for a while when Gen V came out.
I remember looking at the Gen V mons on the pokedex on the official pokemon website and thinking "holy shit there's not a single design I like".
Picked the franchise back up after the starter/mega hype with Gen VI.

I never played gen 5 but the starters seem fine to me.

Gen V is shit! Finally! Someone who agrees with me...

I have to wonder how much of this kind of stuff gets posted ironically because we sure do get it a lot. Like really, the cereal meme? Who would even fall for this kind of bait these days.

Gen 5 almost ruined the franchise. The worst games ever. It sold close to zero, had the worst Pokemon... Gen 6 is a true savior with actual good games for once. I quit Pokemon when Gen 5 was announced and just got back in to it.

Gen V was a mistake. I never played it myself, because I stick with more of the classics like Heart Gold and Ruby, but wow. Just wow. Gen V sure was a disappointment. How could anybody like playing that mess? Not to mention the "Pokemon"
