It didnt lose the bowtie. How do you even know it's supposed to be a bow tie. It just develops into a whole cloak. That's actually way more interesting than it just having the exact same detail throughout all the evos. Bulbasaur, Chikorita, and Turtwig are consistent as they evolve. Their foliage grow and bloom. When you look at their progression, it reasonably fits into place. Nothing goes missing in the middle evolution and comes back in the final evolution.

One or both of those evolutions have to be fake. It's too inconsistent, even for Gamefreak.

Not an owlfag, but Roothoot has just been confirmed to not be the initial stage Grass starter. In fact, the original leaks weren't specified to be the starters in the first place; /vp/ just kind of assumed they were and went with it. There's still a chance for all of three of them to be real. But if Roothoot is the evolution of Rowlet, Owltair is most likely not real.

Not only does it not fit the theme but it doesn't even resemble a first stager. Not to mention the plethora of designs for it that were presented as real and the fact that it's cohorts aren't real either.

Popplio's alleged final stage is definitely risky. They have set the stage for popplio to be the cute, friendly one of the trio. To turn it into a maniacal looking clown is a far cry from what a lot of people thought they had picked in popplio.

Yes. I like it when things evolve into what they advertise, I was very disappointed when Samurott became a quadrupedal sea lion (though it got better when I saw sources outside the game reveal it can stand on two legs).

I'm not necessarily asking for "it just gets bigger" but I like some tie to the original and some amount of tone kept. Greninja is a lot more "cool" and less "cute" than Froakie but you can see the ties between them, along with how the middle evolution links them. Rape clown isn't even a seal in any way other than the feet being flippers.

It would be up to the middle evolution to reconcile the two extremes. However the concept is sound to me: popplio is young, naive, hardworking, and perhaps goofy. It's like a jester. But recycling one motif for all three stages can be stale. Clowns are renowned for being scary, is related to the concept of a jester, and it looks like its a fighting type. We've already seen popplio stand on its flippers like the final stage does. To me this is a very creative evolution process which is why I love it, but I admit that this alleged last stage is a very niche taste. I would just be very impressed that GF would take a starter, something that I would assume aspires to be somewhat "neutral" to appeal to many people, and turn it into something so unsettling. I love it.

I'm just going off that "leak," however legit it is. It could be fighting, dark, whatever, but it definitely looks like a primarily physical attacker which is not something we've seen in a water starter since gen 2, and refreshing in that sense. This also complements the rest of the trio: litten looks likely to be a special attacker, while rowlet could go either way (perhaps a speedy mixed).
