The lowpoint of DP was Brock himself who had no reason to be there anymore, Kenny being a terrible character, Piplup getting overused too much in the second half of DP, and if you count it the rushed end with Tobias.

Actually this, contests were awful. I recently watched the Hoenn region animes and the shows were a lowpoint here but I struggled through, when I got to Sinnoh I thought it was over, finally no more fucking contests and was met with more of the same.
It finally killed me and I couldn't finish the Sinnoh animes, it was the contests that did that made me want to end myself.

Well the blame for that is Brock. Some of Dawn's rivals were boring but other than that I don't see what else.

Paul, Barry, Conway, Ursula, all had great personalities. Zoey was a mixed bag and Nando just didn't appear enough.

Literally the only good thing they did in DP was with the rival and Ash growing as a character through him. Everything else was shit, just like the rest of the anime turned into once Johto started and Shudo was kicked off the anime
