Yesterday was the Durant line, today will be about the Dark/Dragon hydra Pokemon, Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon.
My thoughts: Well /vp/, we finally reached this day. Hydreigon is my current No.1 favorite Pokemon. I've been playing since R/B, so I'm sure for those who've also been playing for long, when you happen across a new Gen Pokemon you really like it's like a love at first sight thing:
>Be me, hearing of BW even though it's out in Japan already
>Come across Serebii for the first time
>Find the 5th Gen Dex
>Scroll through list of new Pokemon
>Come across Hydreigon
>Mfw it's a badass looking 3-headed dragon
>Mfw unique Dark/Dragon typing
>Mfw Nip name is Sazandora
>Name sounds like King Ghidorah
>Mfw instant connection to favorite kaiju like Tyranitar=Godzilla
>Instant love
Competitive wise, Hydreigon is a pretty great Pokemon. Before Goodra, Hydreigon set itself apart from the other Pseudolegends with a high Sp.Attk stat, instead of the usual mixed or primarily Attk. Sadly, with the introduction of Fairy plus even struggling to stay in OU in Gen 5 due to its painfully good but not great 98 base speed, Hydreigon was quickly bumped down to UU. Hopefully, it gets new moves or even a mega in the coming Sun/Moon to boost it back to the top.
Conceptwise, Hydreigon is pretty interesting. It is basically a representation of most named multi-headed draconic creatures in mythology and fiction, but its main basis(as confirmed by Sugimori)is Yamata no Orochi, an 8 headed demonic snake-dragon in Jap mythology. This is probably the reason why Hydreigon shares the Dark type, as Orochi is infamous for being a really violent and evil being.
Overall, I wish I could say more about my favorite Pokemon, but I don't want the OP to be too long. So TL;DR, Hydreigon is a fucking awesome Pokemon. This Demon Hydra is No.1 in my book.

my favourite pseudo that always has a slot on my team. due to the level it evolves, i never trained one until xy. when i was impressed out of my mind (choice specs draco meteor = instant ko), i went back in time and replayed b2 with the hydra, and was still impressed.
hoping for a mega in sumo too, anon. alot of anons hope it gets a dragon/steel typing in homage to its beta-stage concepts of the designers making it like a tank. i kinda hope it gets the same typing, but dark/dragon is more fitting for hydreigon. another ability like mega launcher and a boost in speed would be blessings to it.

I've been playing since RBY too and Hydreigon is the first dragon type I liked. There's nothing I dislike about it. Hydras are one of my favorite mythological creatures are Hydreigon is great representation. Even better it's another kaijumon.Deino and Zweilous are really cute for ravenous dragons.
Sylveon x Hydreigon best OTP

Two words:Level 65
>>26434846
coolest fucking pseudo by far
i also love how it's ghetsis main poke
>Badass Typing
>Badass Design (Reminded me of the Divine Dragon in Legend of the Dragoon with 7 wings)
>Dat Coverage
One of the greatest pseudos if not the GOAT
CUTE
Based, one of my faves

Same, Hydreigon will always have a slot on my team in postgame.
Love edgedragon, honestly top 3 from gen5 for me.
Have a shiny 5iv from a trade a while back, fucking glorious
>According to interviews with Ken Sugimori in Nintendo Dream, Hydreigon and its evolutionary family were originally intended to be cyborg dragons with aspects of tanks
>The tank tread-like markings on Hydreigon's body are a remnant of this design
boy i'm glad they dropped the idea
I've never really used it but it's really cool. Ghestis' Hydreigon gave me a hard time a couple years back

In a word: Awesome.
One of my favourite Pokemon of all.
Got even better playing around with the entire evolution family in amie.
I love sockpuppet-chan!

Dude, Ghetsis' Hydreigon was Lance's Dragonite all over again. Everybody in my senior class who picked up B/W (Surprisingly a lot) Complained about it constantly, and wondered when their Zweilous would turn into one.
Love Hydreigon, favorite pseudo legend
I like it. I don't want it to be OU. It does really good in UU with Sticky Web support. And can 2KO fairy threats with flash cannon.

I like how the pokedex describes the line as being nothing but evil while the official portrayals of them aren't.
They're alright I suppose.
>>26435153
Funny how in GTI Hydreigon was the good guy all along.
>>26435086
B/w was also extremely popular among my peers as well
>>26435219It really was a surprise seeing Hydreigon being murdered by Kyurem, not a shock or something like that, but it really was surprising, it came out from nowhere
>>26434846
>Gen 5 General - Day 66
Coolest looking non-legend Dragon type imo
Orochi is obviously just a cover story.
It's clear they had something else in mind when designing Hydreigon. The original cyborg concept hammers it in.

this ugly fuck has no redeeming qualities at all
>shitty spindly strips of flesh for wings
>necks have elbows, so instead of 3 heads it has an awkward muppet motif
>completely vestigial legs
it's only saving grace is that it isn't goodra

great taste

If he had better eyes I would like him more.
His black, no pupil eyes don't fit with Pokemon imho
>>26437470
OP here, honestly that's my favorite aspect about his design. If he had any other set of eyes like say, the angular Toriyama version I don't think I'd like him as much as I do now.
>>26434846
I absolutly hate how adorable it is in amie. A ferocious beast wiggles like a child.
>>26437155
Fuck off for hating Ghidrah: Pokémon edition
One of my favourites.

He softened up a lot since he found love.
Zweilous is CUTE!
Hydreigon has the same problem as a lot of gen 5 Pokémon, where its evolution levels were pushed back because its basic stage is found later in the game. It makes it really hard to use unless you're almost to the elite four in any of the games.

This irritates me. Every description states it's a monster that only wishes to eat and doesn't care about its Trainer. Then a few depictions show it being sweet and caring. Why don't they just write the Pokedex entries to state wild Hydreigon are monsters, while trained ones love their Trainers?
