I do something similar, but only if it's an actual random encounter. If I'm breeding or chain fishing --purposely looking for a shiny-- those are the ones I normally use on my team or don't mind trading. But an actual shiny just popping up out of nowhere feels a bit more special (probably because it was unexpected). So I do tend to treat those ones like trophies.

I just got a shiny Trapinch.It has 4 IVs and Adamant nature.

I was hunting for a specific gible just 2 days ago in AS. Low and behold, a shiny appeared. That gible didn't meet my expecttions and I owed my younger sibling a shiny,so I gave it to him. When I went back to hunting the next day, another one appeared within 15 enounters of starting again. I was pretty amazed, considering I hadn't met my first shiny until black and white after years of playing the damn games.

Before pokecheck died at the start of of XY, I cloned a crap load of my legends, shinies and other stuff just for future GTS trade. Still have quite a bit left over and then there was the xy cloning//hack madness so I future proofed my self some more for the hell of it.

My first shiny was a mareep that i found on the route south of Violet city in HGSS. I was doing a nuzlocke and hadn't bought balls and by god the first pokemon on that route was that shiny mareep. When I first saw it I started flippin the fuck out and only had one pokeball left.
I whittled its health down so scared I would crit it and then my only pokeball caught it.

I'm not sure why I didn't have Repel on at the time, since it was my first time in the cave and I usually prefer to get throught the Trainers first.

my first shiny was my partner pokemon Absol.

Female, lvl 60 on black back when it came out. right next to the city with the dragon gym, at th grass place near the coast.

its my fav pokemon since then, has 10% higher attack than other stats, its supercute and daaaaaamn hot when mega evolved

next one was a shiny driftloon on OR, while flying with my absol. normally i fly around the birds.

In OR, I hatched a Shiny Charmander via Masuda method while trying to make some 5IV Charmanders for wonder trades.

It had an HP Ice Spread too by complete accident since the Charmander I was using wasn't perfect by any means and with Modest, it would've made for a perfect Charizard-Y in VGC15...

I ended it up giving it to some autistic guy at my college who loved playing Stall since our "league" was 6v6 singles with Pentagon rule so I could get him to leave me alone. I don't regret trading it, but god knows when I'll ever be that lucky again.

That said, the time before that, I hatched a shiny 5IV Numel. So even without that Charmander, I'm happy with my Camerupt.

I just found a shiny Aron last week. It's the first shiny I've ever found without abusing RNG, and it was a random encounter without any tricks.

I've been playing Pokemon longer than shinies have been a thing, so I'm pretty fucking excited to finally have a legit shiny, and a cool one at that. Teal is actually my favorite color, too.

I think he has pretty good IVs too, but I haven't leveled him up yet. 31 in HP for sure though.
