A trailer for sun and moon was uploaded to youtube on the jp pokemon channel and showed off this new look at the moon legend. The symbol pretty much looks like an eye but what could it mean?

on topic: probably nothing. It's probably just something given to the SM mascots as they use a signature move. Xerneas had the rainbow horns which amounted to nothing. Not every design feature needs to be some obscure bread crumb on a trail to a clue.
If anything, Lunaala's mark looks like a moon passing in front of a sun where Solgaleo's looks like the sun eclipsing the moon.
