Duskull's is obvious, Dusknoir is a stretch because the only robe like thing is the tail.
Even Dusclops is more reminicient of being wrapped up in a robe with tassles of sorts coming off of the back and heels.

It's not like Gengar moves away from the previous evolution, like Dragonite or Samurott.

I think the main problem with the Duskull line is that they were different enough from each other to belong in separate evolutions. I mean, Duskull is a Grim Reaper, Dusclops is a mummy, and Dusknoir is a cyclops (come to think about it, all of them are one-eyed).
I mean, all of them are equally awesome, but their designs just don't fit as well together.
Dusclops and Dusknoir should have stayed with the Grim Reaper theme, while Dusclops' original design should have been used in a Ghost/Ground mummy Pokémon. However, I don't know where else could we fit Dusknoir's design.
