Garchop dies without Korrina and I think the straight M Alakazam works better then Golbat. (Alakazam, Hoopla, Shaymin). If Blacksmith doesn't get a reprint or better fire types I think that M Sceptile might be the deck to beat.

The next set might give Carbink a new partner with M Steelix (If it's good) and Rainbow Xerneas could teir. (Getting a BREAK and the new dual type mechanic: despite the ones we've seen so far not working for the deck)

It's PTCGO. The game's target demographic consists of children and autists who barely understand how to get around the paywall. You should have a 70%+ WR with a properly-built Tier 4 deck.

I'm about to buy the mewtwo vs darkrai set because I have no physical cards and I've been told the trainers form that set are kinda fine.

Go reread it again. The last thing you want is for that Snorlax to be asleep. There's no real synergy there between it and Hypno. Also, All-Night Party is a bit outdated now that Chaos Tower exists, since healing 30 is a lot worse than just leaving your opponent asleep.

The new Snorlax from Fates Collide is pretty cute, though. 120 for CCC, sits at 180 HP with Belt, and you leave your opponent asleep every turn. Don't even need Chaos Tower for it to work.

Pikachu is an EX with 130 HP, 170 with FFB, who needs to fisherman every turn. The upside that Kingdra has over Pikachu and Raikou is it's longevity.

I've found that the main problem with Magnezone/Raikou was that I needed to Fisherman every turn to set up a new Raikou. I didn't find that to be true for Kingdra. It's not a strictly worse Raikou, as many would believe.

Why would it's 4 energy requirement be a deterrent? You're already playing Magnezone, while fisherman gets you 4 energy out of the discard. It's not much of a problem.

The only "expensive" staples in the game are Shaymin ($40 each) and VS Seeker ($10 each). If you don't buy those and stay away from the $15 EXs like Toad, then $40 will get you a fully-built casual deck and more.

If you don't care about playing in tournaments at your local game shop and only want to do casuals at a friend's house or whatever, then buy World Championship decks.

Actually, I mainly played draft from a cube in MtG. I was just looking at Pokemon because it went over so well when teaching my friends. Magic seems to be too complicated for them to really enjoy.

The reason I was interested in packs is because they would promote trading between friends and make it easier to make decks with a limited pool of cards compared to just telling them to buy stuff and figure things out.

I'll look into theme decks, although I think making custom decks is what they were excited about. I'll have to talk to them more. Just trying to gather info right now.

I've been fucking with Fossils since FC's launch.
Aerodactyl is a really fucking good attacker. If it were just a Basic Pokemon instead of Restored, it would easily be tiered. 120 for a single DCE with no setup and a good secondary effect is extremely above-curve. But the fossil engine slows it down too much.
The real problem with fossils are that:
>You need Archie's since there's no viable way to use the items
>You're going to be dedicating a quarter of your deck to an Archie's play, and that entire quarter will be useless until you hit that Archie's
>There are other, better Archie's targets
>You still need an entire functional deck alongside the Fossils since they're not Basics, and all the best partners are objectively better off without Fossils weighing them down
If they printed a Basic with an ability like "Draw 1 card, put 1 card from your hand at the bottom of your deck", Fossils would be usable. But as of right now, they're extremely clunky unless you manage to meme out a sacky Turn 1/2 Archie's.

Old Amber can work in Archie's since you can just use them up, if they fail you thin the hand, if they succeed you thin the hand and get an Aerodactyl in play. The problem is your deck has 4 attackers that require an Archie's to ever use, and if that Omastar dies you're fucked beyond repair. That was a very different format. It was slow enough for Stage 2/3 Pokemon to consistently set up, didn't have cards like Lysandre until we saw Warp Point and Luxray Lv X, and the Supporter/Item lineup had very, very little draw power, with most Trainers acting as toolbox/consistency options instead.

Don't forget that before Juniper in BW, the last +7 card was Professor Oak in Base Set. And we have Octillery right now, which is only a tiny bit worse than Claydol.

Shaymin works better than Octillery in this deck since you need to turbo out Magnezone ASAP.
You don't need that many energy toolbox options, I'd cut down on the Retrievals and Letters.
Fisherman is better than Clemont, since the latter works against Compressor.
If you're going to bother with Brigette in this deck, you need to run 2-3 of her.

Focus less on Yveltal. Either drop the count or eliminate it entirely; this deck doesn't need that form of acceleration. Max out Max Elixer and throw in 1-3 more energies to make it more consistent. Fit in 1-1 or 2-2 Zoroark to help with Elixer as well. The entire premise of the deck is that you can set up a Darkrai instantly off Elixer+DCE, then swing for 180 with a Muscle Band.

I'm kinda on both sides here.

First of all, a match should be fun for both participants, not only the winner. Noone is playing this just to feel frustrated afterwards because some fucking annoying opposing deck flat-out prevents them from even trying to land a successful turn. And with PTCG decks, it's not like you have plans B-E most of the time - decks are built to work a certain way, and if an opposing deck just fucks up your entire plan from the very beginning, it's goddamn annoying and frustrating, and yeah, in THAT case the only one having fun is the winner.

ON THE OTHER HAND, I'm guilty of this too. I've played Night March for about three weeks until I could afford enough cards for a first "real" deck, and thoroughly enjoyed that time. I love NM. I really do. But I do understand what's so shit about it for the others, and I've been playing my second deck, the new one, 95% of the time since I finished making it.

There's a purpose for decks that fuck others over, and it's fucking others over. I don't think the question of what's wrong about this can be taken seriously.

Shit that took long. Positive note: of course decks like that aren't unbeatable, and it's a damn good feeling winning against NM or a very pesky Trevenant deck. But it's still shit to encounter.

Playing a good deck isn't a problem. Night March isn't a problem. It's just a good, fast deck that takes advantage of the prize trade right now.

Trevenant, Toad, and Vileplume are a problem, though. Item lock is cancerous in the traditional sense of the word, since it directly degenerates the metastate to specifically dictate what is and isn't allowed to be played, period.

You can very realistically pull a win off against a Tier 1 deck with a shit one. That's why Night March has a 30% WR on a competitive level instead of 100%. But against an item lock deck, entire decks become unplayable with no real counter. Outs like Hex Maniac and Lysandre aren't enough when item lock. There's a specific reason why don't see a single Rare Candy deck on the tier list, for example, and decks like Trev Break, Vileplume (ironically),and Greninja Break show that that has nothing to do with Evolution as a mechanic.

There's a reason why Item Lock has historically always been Tier 1 in every format it's been available in. Pic related was almost Tier 0 after the very first rotation knocked out Haymaker. Allergy Flower Vileplume defined part of Gen 4's meta. Toad had a nearly 40% WR in 2015. It's a mechanic that needs to stop being printed.

Its ability is a bit underwhelming (cards like Octillery let you do the same thing every turn for free), but its attack practically defines the meta. 30 damage is extremely on-curve for a single energy attach (double colorless). You see this in a lot of other meta cards like Seismitoad, baby Yveltal, and Trevenant BREAK. It's also why cards like Manectric aren't very good anymore, since it only does 20 for a single energy.

On top of being a powerhouse in terms of damage, the format doesn't have a single good Pokemon that hits for more than 100 (NM decks can't really afford to put more than 4-5 Night Marchers in the discard, since they'll run out of Pokemon too quickly, for example), so most players splash in 3-4 Shaymin as a generic attacker that resets its health every turn.

The newly revised one looks like this. Ns are alright for shuffling all those energy into the deck so I don't have a bunch of dead cards in my hand in the "lategame". Muscle bands are very useful for getting around numbers like 120 and 170. Skyla just helps with everything and Pokemon Center lady is a qt but has also won me some games with this deck

I replaced the level balls with ultra balls though. Otherwise I'll probably never find additional Heatmors. Not before it's too late.
