Something to do with myths relating to the cosmos, we just don't know what culture/mythos they're going with. In all likelihood them being a bat and a lion is probably arbitrary and has nothing to do with any particular myth and is just because lions are regal and always associated with the sun for many centuries while bats are nocturnal. Their appearance likely has little to nothing to do with their lore or inspiration, so it's still too vague to narrow down exactly what they're based on yet.
