the strange souvenir backpacker does talk about a facility you wouldn't believe in his region. So I do think Sun/Moon are going to have some kind of Frontier. Not sure whether it's going to be the Hoenn version though

Now I'm not one to sit here circlejerking over Frontier only to disappoint myself each time a new installment comes out and doesn't have one, but see pic related. The strange souvenir guy pretty clearly talks about a 'facility' of sorts in Alola. It doesn't have to be a Frontier, but the fact it's hinted at in the first place, coupled with Game Freak's complete dickteasing in ORAS, leads me to believe that Alola at the very least will have a battle facility that outdoes the crappy Maison
