Honestly it's not that bad, the animation is intendedly wonky and it's about tits and asses, but even then I don't think they overdid it, by the end them being half naked is pretty normal, you don't even pay attention to it. It's over the top, silly, and I don't think it should be taken too seriously. It's a fun ride.

KLK is like watching 20 episodes of Loony Tunes, only every time Bugs hits Elmer with a hammer and flattens him into a pancake, they try to make you emotionally invested in them with a flashback about their tragic pasts. It tries to juggle slapstick with emotional impact, but ultimately falls flat where Gurren Lagann excelled. It isn't good.

TTGL also attempted to invest the viewer in its characters and narrative while still being zany and over the top. Only it succeeded, and it did so by gradually raising the bar of its craziness over the course of the show. KLK is instantly pants on head silly and only gets sillier, yet it expects you to give a shit about the plot and everyone pushing it. Trigger tried the same shtick twice and only pulled it off once.

Yeah, like I said. Both are over the top action shows. TTGL set out to be the ultimate scale Hero's Journey, where KLK instead explores themes of duality. Since there's not really anything interesting to say about the Heroes Journey TTGL spends a good bit of time getting you invested in the characters and making them at least a bit relatable. KLK doesn't really do that very much, instead hanging its hat on its exploration of philosophy.

It's apples and oranges mang. Both are sweet/tart fruit but can't be directly compared like that.
