It's trying to make something of a comeback. It never died in Japan and now they're banking on the nostalgia of normies by making sequel movies to the original series.
IMO Digimon never went to shit, but Im a die hard fan so I might be biased
Games will never be Pokemon levels of good but they're unique

Oh yeah Dawn/Dusk are great. If you liked that and you have a PS4/Vita you should check out Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth. Same mechanics and such and really nice game, miles more interesting than ORAS
