AUTISM INCOMING.

2nd or 3rd gym in the region if we follow the game rules.

Normal type.

Theme: sleep and laziness. in terms of personality, the leader is a laid back guy who is intelligent but prone to procrastinate. Would normally spend time with nose in a book rather than other responsibilities.

The gym would have belonged to a former Grass type leader in a cozy town that is nroth of a forest and east of a lake. In the gym are piles of leaves scattered throughout the gym and the leader, me, is found asleep against a tree.

The layout would be very straight forward. When the challenger enters the gym things are very quiet. The guy who usually gives you advice is sound asleep next to the pillar. Then the challenger progresses into the first room. Basically, like I said, piles of leaves and a locked gate that separates the areas in the gym. Each pile of leaves either contains a key to unlock the gate, nothing, or a sleeping trainer. Find the key or beat the trainer(s) to get to the next area. Trainers use early route normal types or birds.

After a few areas the trainer gets to a large tree with bright autumn colored leaves. Me, the leader, is asleep against a tree with a pile of books next littered around. A jugglypuff paces back and forth around.

The trainer would have to talk to me multiple times to wake me up. I'd tell the trainer that before they entered Jigglypuff must have sang and made everyone sleep.

Team:
Jigglypuff with a berry.
Sing, Return, 1 or 2 other moves.

Snorlax with a chesto berry
Rest, Return, Body Slam, Crunch

Trainers who beat me get Return as a TM and my badge.

Not exactly my gym but since I have a mono fairy team I have thought about that. The gym leaders would be an idol duo and they challenge you to a double battle. The gym would look similar to Roxie's but more cutesy, the duo is on the stage and there are lots of people in front of them, like your usual Idol concert. You have to talk to the people, some will tell you stuff and the ones you can battle, they'll move away when defeated letting you pass.
Their team would be: Slurpuff, Clefable, Mawile and Klefki (+ Togekiss and Sylveon if 6 pokémon are allowed). I haven't thought about the badge name though.

Holy shit i made this so long ago. Everything would still be the same. Id probably be the 7th gym leader. My gym would probably be similar to the Fuego Ironworks in gen4 but with a focus more on steel types than fire

I've done normal gyms for a few gens with friends just for fun. This is always my gimmick. I know the video you're talking about though. It's such a simple concept I'm surprised it hasn't been used in the games.

I believe my badge was called the Neutral Badge. I'd have to go digging through the PC to find the design but that's my gimmick and I'm sticking with it.

Electric Gym, based on Light. Second gym. You'd have to navigate a maze, while turning on searchlights which will illuminate the path to either the next light or me. Trainers would have Mareep, Chinchou, or Shinx. I'd be at the end of the gym, and when you turn on the last searchlight, I'm illuminated in a circle of light.
My team would be Flaafy, Chinchou, and my ace Luxio. I'd give out the Lumin badge, and the TM for Electrify. I'd also ask you to meet me near the cave behind town, where I'd give you the TM for Flash.

Basically like the water temple in Ocarina of Time, except obviously much less rage inducing. Also, it's raining in the gym. You have to raise levels of water and be standing in certain spots to get to me at the top, where I'm standing at the peak of a waterfall. I'd be HP and defense based.
I'd have a Rain Castform, Wailord, Lapras and my ace would be Vaporeon.

Water-Type Specialist using dual types
Team: Starmie ,Lanturn, Dewgong, Kingdra
Re-match: Lanturn, Jellicent, Azumarill, Kingdra, Mega-Sharpedo

Gym: An aquarium/water park. Series of water slide/tubes that pass through the aquariums and bring you to the various rooms with trainers utilizing dual type water pokemon and a view of the surrounding aquariums.

Once you solve whatever puzzle fuckery I impose on the slides you make it to my room which is basically an enclosed super tough glass arena.

Trick is, if you took the easiest way of solving the puzzle and getting to me, the room is actually filled with water. This would create some bullshit environment benefit for water types, maybe an increase in speed and defense for my pokemon. The more trainers you battled the less water (benefit decreases) there is in my room, if you battled every trainer to get to me the water is only waist-high so that my pokemon can actually move and shit.

Well considering mine is just a copy-paste of 7 other gyms with some adjustments made...
Added note: Extra genius comes in when you realize you have to go through 7 gyms all over again. Meaning you have to deal with 7 gyms worth of enemies and you can't just go back to the Pokemon Center to heal. You gotta keep going or white out trying.

Normal type. Moved from Unova, took over from Norman and moved the gym to Verdanturf. I'm a Pokémon breeder, so I like to be close to the day care. My gimmick is using only non-normal type moves. I have two Loudred, one trained in attack and the other in special attack, and a Cinccino.

I give winners the Flex Badge and Hidden Power. I also tell winners about egg moves and briefly explain chain breeding.

Fighting gym

The gym is a straightforward gym based on a kendo dojo. There are no puzzles and the trainers tend to have only one high-level fighting mon. The gym leader is a young girl and when you beat her she reveals that the real gym leader is her shut-in older brother who lives in the house next door to the dojo. Go next door and battle him to get the badge

Kalos.

My gym would the 7th gym. It would be Snowbelle City. Weather patterns changed and Snowbelle became buried in snow; resulting in the towns people to move to higher ground. The relocation landed people on a mountain that was still pretty snowy and had natural hot springs; the mountain is a minimally active volcano. My gym would be centered around countering super-effective types.

Gym is really cozy; based around cozy, warm room set ups and is similar to Lavarre City's gym. For example, one room would a living room with a large fireplace and another would be based on a sauna.

Puzzle would be a procedural maze; going in the right direction lets you move forward, going in the wrong direction sends you in a circle. When a trainer reaches me; I awake from a bed with a heavy comforter that's in front of a fireplace. I award winners with Overheat and the Warmth Badge which is based on a campfire.

Design: The gym is filled with sand to make it look like a desert. There are a fair amount of trainers in the sparring area below, but only three trainers on the ground floor where you enter (mix of trainers but mostly black belts, battle girls and veterans).

You need to follow the footprints in the sand to find your way to the leader, if you pick the wrong route you'll end up in quicksand. Each of the trainers on the desert level are standing next to a terminal. When you beat a trainer you need to use the terminal and press 'A' for each turn used in that battle. Right answer and you can move forward, wrong answer and you get dropped to the sparring area below. Falling through quicksand has the same effect.

Alternatively you can take the stairs to skip the desert part and just fight your way through the sparring area instead. Either way you'll find the leader in a little wasteland near the back of the gym, sparring with one of her Pokemon until she notices your approach.

I had a kitchen Idea, But mine is that you gotta travel around the region for the gym leader as he moves like a legendary. You find him 3 times and battle the chef he is chilling out with before he goes to his own kitchen where you defeat his staff before dishing out in a spicy battle with him. He can be anywhere from the third to eighth gym, scaling to what gym you last beat

He is also Guy Fiere or whatever from Diners, Drives and Dives.

I'd use Sigilyph, Skarmory and Gligar/Glisgor, rebattles adding Talonflame, Driftblim and mega Pidgeot
Gym is inside a tall building, with tubes that shoot you up and down the various levels.
