I like the stylization of the face on meme owl because it makes it very distinctive (and it really doesn't kill it for me like it does some other people that it doesn't have a distinct break since that makes it stand out among other bird pokemon which it should as a starter) and it's color scheme more. I also like that it's a discernible kind of owl as opposed to a generic owl which gives more unique design cues to follow, like the stylization of the face. Barn owls are also pretty sweet. I really don't think the design is offensive at all. I think it's mostly overexposure and maximum overmemers forcing it.
