We still don't know the full scope of Alain's abilities as a trainer with a full team though as he favors using Charizard all the time, though seeing him battle with Metang, he is pretty much like Korrina and berserk Ash minus his unorthodox tactics just using strong attacks to overwhelm the opponent.

Yeah, no. Shota's a trainer who has been aping Ash's style since they met and got the wonderful idea of building a team to counter Ash's. Paul on the other hand had his own style, much more strategic to say the least, even before he copied Ash's Counter Shield for his own use.

Assuming you meant "how long", I doubt he ever will, at least against other megas/really strong mons. His fighting style is based more on a flurry of fast attacks, which feels accurate, look at Greninja's Final Smash too.

Things I dislike about XY

AshGreninja - Asspull advertisement shoved
down our throats more than fucking Piplup. The synchro thing is beyond stupid.

Serena - Feels useless since she has no goal for most of the region. Doesn't utilize or develop her Pokemon. Feels like she doesn't belong in the Pokemon world, she'd fit better in another anime with her waifu- and shipping traits.

Shota - A generic, friendly rival with no personality. Also is a beginner trainer. Probably the most uninteresting rival Ash has had. Calling him a rival is even stretching it.

Problem is, Piplup had an entire season where it could steal the spotlight, meanwhile Ash-Greninja only got back to back episodes as of late, and is pretty much connected with the whole Kalos and Zygarde thing.
