Fighting is the "justice" type as a counterpart to Dark, Psychic and Fairy cover the mystical properties that light, magic or cosmic types would primarily represent, and Steel and Electric cover actual light with moves like mirror shot or pokemon like Ampharos. There's nothing left a light type could make its own.

The only fan type I can still get behind. There's at least 20 or so pokemon that could be retyped to Sound type (around the same amount of pokemon retyped to Fairy), and a good number of moves that could be retyped to Sound as well.
The only problem I can think of is there are some moves that involve sound that couldn't be retyped (Grasswhistle, Metal Sound, Bug Buzz, etc.), but in all fairness there are similar situations with other moves (Dizzy punch being normal for example).
