I don't like the pink, it matches horribly with the rest of the color scheme. I dislike that it no longer has a big tail and in general is just less agile, Magmar being a lava swimming creature is one of my favorite parts about it and I just can't see Magmortar doing the same.

The arm cannons are cool though.

i used to hate him but now i actually like him, here's some recolors i did for fun

Magmortar looks a little goofy. Magmar had that butt-forehead thing going on, make no mistake, but Magmortar is an overweight bird(?) with a ridiculous face. The arm cannon has a little bit of cool, but it primarily makes the whole design look even more clumsy and unweildly.
Magmortar tipping must be a popular pastime in the pokemon world.

Look, it's one thing to say that they just decided Electabuzz and Magmar needed a boost more than Jynx or that they decided to pair Jynx up with Mr. Mime instead, either of which is likely what happened, but to say that Jynx never formed a fire/ice/lightning trio with Electabuzz and Magmar is just willfully ignorant.

Looks awful

The reason a lot of the Gen 4 evolutions are disliked is because many of them are pretty much "get fat" while also losing the feel of the original designs. Rhyperior, Electivire, Magnezone, and Magmortar come into mind. It doesn't help that a lot of them get a decrease in speed, or don't get enough speed (Porygon-Z).
