Does anyone legitimately like Talonflame?

i like it because I don't care for VGC

It's a non-shitmon early bird and a good fire type, it's nice.

I liked it when I discovered rocks.

It was apparently my answer to Fairies in my first run of X, so I like it.

And besides, it's basically the best Flymon in X and Y even without Gale Wings.

It's just your average route 2 regional bird that was gifted with an absolutely busted ability.

take away gale wings and it's really just a faster pidgeot with fire STAB.

but eh, I never hate it or like it in competitive. I can usually rely on T-tar to but a hard stop to the brave birding.

I really liked it pre-X/Y and it had a definite spot on my team since Fletchling's reveal. I still like it, though its really stupid competitively.

Talonflame isn't bad. In fact, on its own it is pretty OK. Starter bird that doesn't suck. It evel looks pretty neat.

Gale Wings is the problem.

Love its design, and both abilities. One is useful for breeding since it can have Flamebody and can fly and the other makes it good in PvP

I like it a lot. It has a cool design (I love peregrine falcons), utility in both competitive and non-competitive scenes (its my go-to Flame Body pokemon now).

I don't like the name, though. I remember seeing the Japanese name and thinking, "thank god the English localization fixes that", but then...nope, disappointment.

I absolutely hate talonflame. I run monotype bug and I've never had such a problem with any pokemon as much as I have with talonflame. I basically have to carry an impish max defense max HP crustle with a rocky helmet for the sole purpose of countering talonflame, and then that crustle is basically useless if they don't have talonflame.

If you are weak to flying there is basically no pokemon that can beat talonflame, besides maybe a bulky tangrowth that has a chance of missing a rock slide. You can be weak to ghost and still beat gengar easily, you can be weak to dragon/ground and still easily find a pokemon to beat garchomp, you can be weak to water/dark and still find pokemon to beat out greninja. Talonflame's ability is just bullshit. Maybe if the priority came at a cost of 10% weaker or something.

Gale Wings Talonflame is banned in monotype.
I've run monotype flying, bug and am now on fairy.

Focus Sash Speed Boost Scolipede lead works wonders if you are using DS online. Use Rock Slide (Yes it can miss but...) its a OHKO with the proper EVs. On top of that, a turn has been wasted and you have a boost to pass. They will ragequit there because they expected a clean sweep. They NEVER stay after Talonflame dies. When they do, it's basically 1 for 1 + initiative on the next mon.

Armaldo in particular really enjoys that speed boost, and should be on every bug mono for rapid spin + Aqua Jet. Talon Flame is a lot less of a problem then the fucking genies.

Fire is my favourite type so the fact it was a regional bird clicked with me.
I hope we get more regional birds that don't end up Normal/Flying when in their final evolved state.

I do, it's the best non legendary Pokemon to keep as a flier.

There was nothing wrong with keeping Fiarrow, it fit the naming theme.

Nice design, Flame Body+Fly is nice for breeding. I don't use it in comp tho, because literally everyone uses it.

Staraptor is my favorite pokemon of all time and talonflame is its bro.

I like that it hatched my eggs faster and is capable of having Fly.

I have a hard time likely the pokemon that everyone has and they just spam the same moveset again and again and again. It's just an easy win.
