Treecko at the start, Hoenn has tons of water routes and caves so it'll help, Or you could always try and catch a Shroomish in the first forest if you want an alternative.
Milotics pretty good but you have to berry farm as well as be good at the pokeblock/poffin minigame and are a bitch to find. I'd suggest a Tenticruel if you want an easy to find, but useful water/poison tank.
Duskull if you don't mind waiting to mid game, Sableye if you are impatient.
There aren't many good bug types in this region but if you really want one go for Nincada, It'll evolve to Ninjask as well as a Shedninja, although it is a entirely gimmick pokemon, if you have an open space in your party.
You'll get a completely free mega Lati@s at mid game and at that point you'll be able to sweep anything.
And that leaves a free slot for anything that catches your eye or an HM slave
