My first game was Crystal.

I was kinda shit at Pokémon and only leveled up my Typhlosion throughout the whole game. Finding Suicune each time was hype as shit and so was fighting the legendary dogs.

Shamefully even though I had like a level 80 Typhlosion I never managed to beat the Johtto elite 4, Lance always fucked me hard.

Great game though, I miss those feels.

This and Lugia bursting out of the waterfall in SoulSilver are the correct answers. Another good answer is the first time a Legendary Beast appears out in the wild in GSC; that was UNPRECEDENTED in the Pokemon series at the time. Suicune even had its own battle music in Crystal. One Pokemon with an entire battle theme all to itself, that shit was unheard of.

Ghetsis's phony motives that I saw through immediately (I don't know how anybody actually thought Ghetsis wanted to help Pokémon), cheap curveballs thrown at the player (N's fucking Darumaka in that one battle and Ghetsis's underleveled Hydreigon), and half the Unova Dex being shitmons.

The one thing that always annoyed me is that the games always had two different 'endings'. You defeat the villains, capture the god pokemon and saved the world! You're a hero! THE ENoh wait you still need to do the last gym and the league, go back to fighting underleveled shit trainers. It's the biggest anticlimax to what should be the climax of the story. B/W FINALLY made the usually separate 'plot ending' and 'game ending' one and the same, and it's satisfying as fuck. The fact they went back on that in B2/W2 and X/Y is fucking baffling.

The way they delivered it was absolutely fucking perfect. Nothing was mentioned about Deoxys throughout the entire game. It was just a regular old meteor crashing towards earth. But the moment you crash through that meteor, the scene waits a second too long and you get that sinking in your stomach. You're like ".. Fuck" and then the triangle appears.
