Chesnaught stays bipedal instead of turning into a retarded quadruped for some reason. Its color change is based on chestnuts getting paler as they age. You can also see some of Quilladin in this stage with the armored arms, and the shell is still there except it isn't completey attached to its body.

Meanwhile Samurott they just make quadruped which works WORSE for its concept,and it looks completely detached from its evolutions other than "it's a water thing that uses shells"

Samurott probably should of went full Bipedal or Quadrupedal instead of the odd combined mix it ended up to be since it does tend to look a little awkward. Still I think its a neat design, i think the idea is that it probably works 10x better in the water then on land. Blastios is like a tank on land and preforms pretty well there, but I'd imagine Samurott would swim circles around it. It's kind of reminiscent of Empoleon who I feel is in the same boat as Samurott. Even in PBR the animation of moving towards the opponent to attack was of Empoleon swimming through imaginary water. As much as water starters are based off semi aquatic animals so they can be used on land, its not too hard to imagine some being better in water then others.

Chesnaught...I have no idea why there is such a big problem around Chesnaught. I mean I remember a little earlier when Chespin was released and everyone was angry at the fact that it wasn't another Grass Lizard, and then some people were upset at Chesnaught's color scheme. But as for the actual design of Chesnaught. I mean, you if ya don't like it that's fair, but I don't really see how there is this huge debate whether or not its the worst pokemon ever. Its not even really that worthy of that argument, there just really isint anything crazy or outlandish about the design that warrants that much hate.

Are you implying that sword-based combat is what its only capable of? It has a spear horn and higher special attack to reflect mounted samurai using yaris and distance-based weapons like arches. It's entire concept isn't just an otter that should like a samurai, but an otter that is entirely influenced by many different aspects of samurai than just one. Dewott already covers the "otter influenced by sword-welding samurai" idea. Samurott literally expands it with different forms of weaponry used by the samurai.
