I just had a game where I drew literally went 18 turns without drawing 1 of my 2 skylas, 1 of my 4 sycamores, 1 of my 2 remaining trainers mail, or anything useful other than energy and tools. The deck runs 4 Rare Candy.
Water Duplication is cute and a good move to use in the first turn or two, but what happens if you miss it? What happens if you already have Frogadier in your hand or prized? And what happens to the other 2-3 Froakie left in your deck? And how do cards like Rod and Ash come into play after you've lost a few Greninja? Are you expected to Duplicate again? Are you going to spend three full turns evolving another Greninja?
Not to mention Duplication technically slows you down a turn. Outside of Wally, which Greninja decks don't really focus on, the soonest you can get out a Greninja via Duplication is on Turn 3. Candy gets him out on 2, especially in a deck that can run Dive Ball.
The Candies also make Brigette extremely live, and let you run Swampert without using a bad card like Archie's.

So 3 Frogadier makes you less likely to clog and help keep the Candies live.

It's not necessarily the best build since we see a non-Candy, 4-Frogadier build also topping right next to it, but it's definitely an option.

The timer "glitch" has to do with it being kept server-side, leading to client-side inaccuracies. For future games, try not to get the timer below a minute.

The reason why it got stuck is probably because you played Voltorb AFTER you played Skyarrow Bridge.

For some strange reason, Skyarrow Bridge applies to Basic Pokemon in play when it's played, but not to Basic Pokemon put in play after you play Skyarrow Bridge.

first of all, expanded =/= modern, and pokemon suffers from power creep, so the only thing you use from older sets are mostly trainers and maybe one or other pokemon that has a broken effect.

I don't know if there is even competitive tournaments that aren't standard. Also, you should try both decks, since bats/giratina is the cheap part of the deck.

I just checked, all regionals are in expanded, and it is even an option in city championships, but state and national are standard-only.
Toad is a viable deck in both standard and expanded, so maybe you should just build the deck and see what fits you more, in both bats/tina or standard/expanded.

They're just fucking done with it. Burn hasn't had any sort of competitive use or viability since the TCG started. They've done three or four cards over the space of 3rd - 5th gen to try and make the mechanic worth something and it's still not been used.

It's either a unreliable version of Poison or just Poison, with increasing irrelevance now that the HP of Pokemon is going close to 200 and most things just get one-shotted anyway.

BW had a grand total of one card to try and enhance the Burn status and that was DEX Volcarona. Guess how much play that saw? None. Its been relegated to 'bonus effect of shitmon attack' for most of BW and removing it just makes it so the kids have one less thing to learn that won't ever have any practical application.

They won't reintroduce it in XY11 Steam Siege even though the flagship Pokemon is based off steam (and steam uh, burns.) but there's two ways to make it useful again

1) Offensive boost. A Burned Pokemon takes 20 more damage from attacks (before applying weakness and resistance) which means it has more immediate value than Poison, balances out if you're not hitting for Weakness, and is worse if you're not attacking.
2) Defensive boost, copying how Burn works in the videogames. A Burned Pokemon's attacks do half the damage they would normally do, rounded up, and before applying weakness and resistance. Keeps Burn constantly relevant until the end of time as your opponent can't constantly one-shot things anymore. Doesn't help against indirect damage but it doesn't help against that in the games either.

But it's more likely they're just planning to completely remove it from the game.

You don't need other Pokemon that help with sleep. Hypno is sufficient. Malamar EX and Darkrai are just going to take too many resources away.

Instead, you will also need Zoroark from BKP. It uses either Dark or DCE to attack which is what you already run, its ability allows you to switch out your Asleep Darkrai EX if you don't have Chaos Town on the field, and its a very powerful non-EX attacker.

Whoever says there isn't an elo system has never grinded the old wheel. I must have played 500 games with quad Heatmor, losing the vast majority of the games at first against legitimate decks. It eventually got to the point where I was facing new players with decks constructed with a mishmash of theme decks every single game and winning a fair share of those. Pic related was from about halfway through that decks life. I finally retired it when they made the wheel requirement more than 2 minutes of playtime total.

I went up and down in elo multiple times, tanking it with quad heatmor and then raising it again with Yveltal/Darkrai/Garbodor.

pokemon and mtg cards have the same size, so yes, that shield will fit them.
Iirc, you have 30 minutes to build your deck, and after that the matches will be announced. Putting your deck into the sleeve doesn't take more than 2 minutes, and prerelease events are usually very casual, so I doubt your opponent would mind having to wait a minute until you finish putting them into sleeves.

Me and my friends have a shitty crossover format game where we use Vanguard's damage system. Instead of setting 6 prizes at the beginning, every time your opponent knocks out one of your Pokemon, you put a card (2 for EX) from the top of your deck into the Prize Zone. You lose when you hit 6 prizes.

If you buy 100 RS packs off of ebay you could easily build NM, YZ(G), Trevenant BREAK, Toad Tina, and maybe another deck. If you already have two Shaymin and staple trainers then you can build an additional two decks with the ~36 extra packs

IRL? Several boxes' worth. You'll never pull what you need and you definitely won't pull enough copies, even from a box. For reference of what I mean, see posts like >>26125248 and >>26125425. Instead, buy singles. A competitive deck should run at $120 for your Shaymin core, another $30 for VS Seekers, and then most other cards are cents.

Online? You'll need 45-60 RS for the Shaymin core, then nothing else in the format outside of Jolteon costs more than 1-2 packs. An overwhelming majority of cards are less than that; you can probably get your entire 30+ card trainer core for 2-3 packs at most. And don't forget almost all cards are splashable.

But if you're playing online, you have the advantage of not needing to play the meta. Remember that a majority of players are children/autists who can't overcome the paywall. So you can just skip out on the Shaymin and build a full competitive deck for under 10 packs.

Being able to search out a Supporter on your turn is extremely important, especially in decks that absolutely rely on one. Decks like Trevenant that might as well scoop if they don't hit that Turn 1 Wally, for example, or decks that absolutely need to hit Skyla, Archie's/Maxie's, etc.

Even in decks that don't mandate a Supporter search, Jirachi turns any Ultra or Level Ball into a Sycamore/N/Colress for consistency, a Lysandre for game, Hex/Xerosic/Ghetsis when you need it, etc. This is an extremely valuable utility that even modern support Pokemon like Shaymin can't guarantee, making Jirachi an auto-include in almost any Expanded.
