Delphox is a wizard. Its thick fur forms a "robe" and the stick it carries serves as a "wand."
The three together form a unified theme of base RPG classes. No other generation has a shared theme this coherent.

Actually, it would make less sense. Bubbles are a protective coating given to young pollywogs by their parents- adult frogs never hide themselves in bubbles this way. If anything, the fault lies with Frogadier for not making the transition smoother, because from a biology standpoint it's a really clever design element that ties the line together.

The problem with Samurott is not only that its design doesn't really permit it to use its signature weapons properly, but that the shell blade theme gets lost between Dewott and Samurott. The idea with Oshawott and Dewott is, they're otters, otters carry clams on their bellies to crack them open, so these ones use their shells as blades. When they become Samurott, not only do they lose the ability to effectively wield the blades, by becoming quadrupedal and topheavy, but the blades are no longer shells, instead shell-colored triangles. Worse, Samurott isn't even an otter anymore- the theme is totally lost. It's now some sort of porpoise sea lion with six limbs. There's more I could get into, but really, that should be enough to demonstrate how flawed the design is.
