As of right now some people have badges but were given to them prematurely and haven't been taken away mostly because that would be a dick move.
As of right now there is no real gym system thougth of yet and people are generally building at the moment, I feel we are waiting for a battle command to set pokemon at a specific level before figuring out anything related to challenges so for now state your want to gary, build a gym in your, or someone elses town and build up your team while you wait.

Just started working on the fossil lab with running machines in it, cleaner and tube.
Plus a trading machine added to the upper left wing of the Town hall and a bit of a detailed pathway fix up to make it less blah and boring.

They do the only issue is keeping them in the area.
I had to farm snow golems to make the igloo the other size it used to be then got left with 17 stacks of snow blocks.
But yeah I can think in doing that when more buildings are made and it gets more established to put boarders so they won't wonder off into god knows where.
