The strange souvenir also probably has nothing whatsoever to do with the setting of a future game, it would be pretty fucking random if it was. Even if they had put it in as a a reference to a region they would use the game after next, or the game after that if they had decided to make an XY sequel/third version as well as ORAS, it is clearly not a tiki. It is meant to be a model of the "yo, champ in the making" guy and even if it wasn't it looks far more like something from mexico or easter island than Hawaii.
