the only reason its steel was because when it was introduced it was pure steel. It had the most resistances of any pokemon (other than registeel) compared to sabeleye who at the time was the only pokemon without a weakness.

Yeah, X and Y were one of the half that let you have Mawile before post-game/victory road. It was a very pleasant surprise.

I recall that Black and White 2 being especially terrible about it, but I don't remember what they did with Mawile that offended me so.
