Which huge city was better?
>>
>>25935768
the unova one
>>
>>25935768
Castelia was the best.
>>
>>25935768
Which city didn't break the game in half with a horrible bug?
>>
>>25935768
I don't like Castelia that much but I hate Lumiose, so Castelia definitely wins. It's a set of straight lines, not difficult to figure out where you are, and the music is better.
>>
>>25935768
Castelia felt more alive and hat more enterable buildings that weren't cafes. I discovered something new every time I visited.

t. Sinnohfetus
>>
>>25935787
Castelia.

It also had ice cream (so did Lumiose, but it probably wasn't as good).
>>
if they had kept that perspective for the entire XY it would have been amazing. like they first gameplay images showed
>>
>>25935787
And Pokemon Bank is still delayed, right?

Lumiose offers a perfect place to hatch eggs. Castelia has...analytics and ice cream?
>>
>>25935768
Lumiose looks better but had terrible controls so Castelia, both are awful tho
>>
>>25935768
>one with awful faux 3d that is impossible and annoying to navigate where most the buildings are pointless
Or
>one with relatively good looking 3d that is a piece of cake to navigate and most the buildings actually have something that serves a purpose in them
I think we can all make an educated guess.
>>
>>25935768
Lumoise by a rockslide
>>
>>25935768
Lumiose.
At lease there was something to do in it.
>>
>>25935768
Lumiose was much larger and had more to do. Castelia also utilised gen 5's dynamic camera a lot (and everything that utilised that looked worse than gen 4).
>>
>>25935768
I'm a unovafag, but I still prefer Lumiose more. There's a lot of stuff to do, taxis, gogoats, etc. You can work in Lumiose at the hotel, and there's some real useful shops.
>>
>>25935768

The one that actually gives off the aesthetic it's meant to, is actually visually pleasing, that isn't fucked with glitchy camera issues, and has the most content.

Castelia is objectively the best.

Seriously, I've been to Paris 3 times, and somehow X/Y's attempt at capturing it really fell flat. It's a city of light and color, not identical grey streets that spread out for way too long.
>>
The one that wasn't a fucking maze
>>
Castelia. The number one thing I want from S/M other that the obvious shit is moving the camera in certain places with the c-stick. It would make areas like Lumiose easier to navigate and the design wouldn't have to be so dumb.
>>
>>25935794
>>25935797
In terms of stability, I'd vote Castelia since Lumiose is really giant. In terms of things to do, Lumiose wins with absolutely no contest. I'm hoping they make it better with even more stuff, but it's doubtful.
>>
>>25935811
going to have to agree with the aesthetics, the only way castelia would have felt more like NYC would have been to add construction scaffolds on half the streets

castelia
>>
>>25935768
Lumiose
There being more to do there being the main reason.
You eventually get used to the camera and how to control it, and it's still far better than Castelia's dynamic camera which looked worse than gen IV.
>>
Lumiose. Great utility, but fuck the camera and fuck the boring music that Masuda pushes so much that the bike doesn'T override it and Sm4sh doesn't remix it.

Castelia didn't have a bunch of good stores, the Battle Institute, Restaurants and a notable landmark like Burgh's gym building being the Empire State Building.
>>
>>25935797
>Lumiose offers a perfect place to hatch eggs
love this meme, that method was inefficient
>>
>>25935860
This, if I need to fly away from the breeding route then it is a bad hatching place.
>>
>>25935853
>only the dynamic camera looked worse than gen IV
anon, gen V's graphics were a downgrade from gen IV.
>>
>>25935768
They're both shit.

I hate locations like this.
>>
Celadon
>>
>>25935811
>and has the most content
there is no reason to return to it after you leave it.
It had a few daily events and that's it
Lumiose has the Restaurants, the juice thing, the furfrou groomer, the hotel, the museum, the pr studio thing, the hair stylist, the boutique, and I might even be missing something.
Castelia was like 3-4 roads with mostly useless buildings on the side.
People complain that Lumiose is big but that's the fucking point, they even only give you half of it the first time so you get used to it.
I personally got used to it quickly, but if you really couldn't get anywhere, there taxis, the journalist that literally teleports you on the different roads, and it tells you where you are on the top left, plus everything is color coded.
basically, you have to be dumb to get lost there.
>>
>>25935768
Castelia.
>Easy to navigate
>Felt big without actually being too big
>Has some neat areas tucked away, like the café, the hidden park and the gang's hideout
I've also come to hate Lumiose City's music from hearing it so damn much so there's that too.
>>
The one that doesn't have a shit camera
>>
>>25935860
>meme
There's that word again. Am I also a shitlord cuck faggot?

Yes, it takes longer to fly to Lumiose. That doesn't change the fact that it offers a more passive way of hatching eggs.

Those few seconds waster, versus the few seconds I hold left longer than needed, it's not really a question.

But that's not even an issue now, with the Breeding Resort.
>>
>>25935857
>castelia didnt have a notable landmark
What is skyarrow bridge?
what is liberty garden?
>>
>>25935872
>buyable evolution stones
>ice beam, rock slide and tri attack tms
>a game corner with Pokemon
>Eevee
>a place to buy water so you can get the psychic tm
How can anything else compete?
>>
Castelia was barren as fuck. Nimbasa actually had more unique NPC's.
>>25935892
Both have camera issues.
>>
>>25935895
it's passive but at what cost? constantly flying is more of a hassle than just hitting left or right every now and then
>>
The one that didn't have a shitty over-the-shoulder camera that made navigating a pain in the ass?

How is this even a question?
>>
>>25935922
As a sports fan, I loved Nimbasa
>inb4 normie reee
>>
>>25935901

Not within Castelia.
>>
>>25935926
>that made navigating a pain in the ass?
No it didn't you turboautist.
>>
>>25935923
>at what cost?

Doing other tasks while hatching eggs. With L=A on, I don't even have to look at the game.
>>
>>25935929
Nimbasa sounds like a city out of central Africa.
>>
>>25935932
Liberty Gaden had Victini didn't it?
>>
>>25935907
>psychic tm
wasn't it Ice Beam? You get Psychic in Saffron
>>
>>25935768
Definitely Lumiose, at least Lumiose had a purpose for the story, the post game and all kinds of shopping activities as well as money grinding.

Both are annoying tho even if Castelia still wins the trash award.
>>
>>25935907
you forgot

>train station to kanto
>radio
>bike shop
>HUGE shop
>Bill's house to travel to the past
>>
>>25935969
Yeah but you need fresh water to get past the guard
I guess it is kinda cheating to include that as a positive tho
>>
>>25935961
Victini was an event 'mon you dumbass
>>
>>25935768
Lumiose
>>
>>25935987
You're the dumbass, Liberty Garden is an event area.

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Liberty_Garden
>>
>>25935987
>i never got the liberty ticket victini
how does it feel to be underaged? ive forgotten.
>>
>>25935956
and then 5 minutes later you have to interrupt that task to fly, you may as well stay on the route and do tasks that only need 1 hand
>>
>>25935768
Lumiose, worthy of being visited again and isn't a shithole like Castelia where you need to remember the same looking skyscrappers with specific floors and shit. Absolutely hate it.

Not like Lumiose was any better graphically but sure it was prettier and had more entertainment rather than chat simulator that was Castelia.
>>
>>25936035
>tap Pokeball icon in bottom left
>tap Volcarona HM disc in top left

You're so caught up on how many seconds it takes to fly, you don't even consider that the time I'm 'wasting' makes up for monotonous left/right/left/right toggling.

As I said earlier, I'm not even looking at the system. Often times, I'll do several loops with 5 hatched mons.

What I waste in those few seconds, I make up with all the time I'm not focusing on hatching, and instead focusing on other materials.
>>
>>25936035
It's still far better if you're actually doing something at the same time, flying every 5 min is nothing compared to having to change direction every 5 sec.
But sure, it slower pay full attention to the game.
>>
>>25935768
>Lumiose City

I don't know a single person who can effectively navigate that shit.

That is to say, I don't know a single person who can intuitively find the side shops they need.

If your point is "it's easy to get to the middle", no shit. Can you drop in at any point and make your way to the stone shop, or the Pokeball shop?
>>
>>25936231
I didn't have trouble with it, it was just annoying. Especially with camera changes being mapped left and right.
>>

Why are both those songs so irritating? I don't know why, but they're the two most repetitive, annoyingly upbeat songs. Surely you'd choose your best, most complex composition to play in the biggest town?

Literally, the actual tune that plays in Lumiose is 46 SECONDS LONG. AND IT JUST REPEATS, AND REPEATS. Why would they do that?

Castelia City's is the same, it's just a 49 second long loop? Why?

Granted now that I think about it more closely both of the tracks are equally bad in the sense that they are only 50 second loops, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense for city that players are expected to spend hours upon hours in
>>

This, but only in moderation. I actually really like the big cities, even if they have flaws. I gives a nice sense of coexistence. Other rpgs are set too much in the past and have many small towns outshined by vast natural landscapes. Not only is pokemon more modern, but it strikes a neat balance between wild and civilized. XY featuring roads that connected two places without any grass within the routes was a nice detail I liked. But this thing only works if there's lots of natural stuff as well. Like, 1 big city needs to be balanced by 4 wild areas or something. Hopefully if SM is based on Hawaii, it'll have a much clearer contrast with the routes being covered with grass and wildlife yet having "big" modern cities (not like Castelia/Lumiose, kinda like Slateport/Lilycove).

I liked both. Each city had its good and bad points, but I guess that I'd choose Lumiose City: music, atmosphere...

Lumiose. Castelia could have been so much nicer without gen 5's god awful graphics. There also wasn't much to do there compared to Lumiose.
>>
Castelia City has the catchy as fuck theme so that one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRxbm_LgJMY
>>
Castelia with no doubt. Fucking Lumiose is like the same thing over and over again, it was a torture checking all the cafes one by one and seeing identical boring buildings all the time. Castelia feels big and beautiful efortlessly.

Castelia in every way.

Castelia was like 5 lanes you could run up and down with barely any extra explorable buildings than a regular town would have. Lumiose was actually explorable and had things to do. Lumiose wins by miles its not even a competition at all

The glitch was patched out very shortly after release. You'd have to revert to ver1.0.00 to experience the glitch and have played the game AND saved in Lumiose City, not inside a building, within about a week of the game coming out.
>>

Only if you're talking about the battle aesthetics, because the forests, bridges, cities, houses and routes all look a LOT better in Gen 5 than in Gen 4.
>>
>>25935981
Castelia and Goldenrod both gave me the big city feel better than Lumiose. Both had a lot of nooks and crannies and were fairly large, but the thing that gives them both the edge is that both of them are vertical. Both had places underground and higher up to travel to, rather than being entirely on one floor. Helps make the city bigger.

Honorable mention to Mauville for doing the same.
>>
Before X and Y I thought Castelia was my most hated city, but then Lumiose came along and easily took over 1st place.
