Gen 6 came way too soon imo, bombarded us with tons upon tons of info first thing, and the actual games were easy and bland as fuck.

I wouldnt say it died, there were some good designs in gen 6. But they were very average games. I didnt like BW2 though, BW were the last games i actually played through multiple times.

Gen 4 and 5 were the best hype seasons. We didn't receive TOO much info to be spoiled, but enough to be quenched for the waiting period. If Sun and Moon is taking the direction its currently going in, then we have plenty of surprises in store for us this Holiday

Money and accessibility to new fans.

The main timeline is that the main events of the previous game happened, excluding catching the legenday Pokemon (except for the Black/White heroes) Someone wearing a new hat or showing looker's partner pokemon dying in the postgame doesn't change what happened.

The games may still be "New" in your mind, but the initial game is over 10 years old. Since the games aren't on the Eshop, the only place to get a copy is on the used market and Nintendo/Gamefreak doesn't see a cut of it. So there's the money side.

On the accessibility side, it's a DS game, is missing fairy type, mega evolution, and 228 Pokemon before Mega Evolution and the Sun/Moon additions. Then after that adventure is complete, the only way to get those Pokemon into X&Y are through a copy of Black and White and a second DS system, 6 at a time while playing a mini game. Too much trouble for someone who hasn't been with the series long term.

replaying through Platinum now, and you can feel the game straining. Battles are slow as fuck, they didn't know what the fuck to do with the touch screen outside of battles (PC uses the top screen, what the fuck), and overall it's just not snappy like the newer or even older games were.

I wouldn't want remakes ASAP, especially with what happened to ORAS, but I'd be nice to see a remake eventually that brings it back up to date.
